Drop Off & Pickup Guide


Drop Off Procedure for all Students

Enter from Fullerton Avenue or Glen Ellyn Road.  Drive around the church building to the back road behind the Parish Center.  Continue driving around the outside of the B parking lot to the front of the school building.  On good weather days you may drop off your child at the B parking lot between 7:30-7:45 a.m.  Please do not leave your children in the back parking lot before 7:30 a.m. as there will be no supervision before this time.  After 7:45 a.m., and on bad weather days, you should drop off your child at the main entrance.  Exit the parking lot to Glen Ellyn Road using only one exit.  If you need to park your car to come into the building, please use parking lot D.  This procedure will be in effect at all times.  Follow the directions of the Patrol students and drive slowly. 

Please do NOT attempt to drive against the flow of traffic. This is extremely dangerous.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



 

 

 

Pick-Up Procedure at Dismissal
Students in grades 1—8 are to line up on the blacktop in the designated area near the sidewalk where they come out of the building.  Parents are to pull their cars into the spaces as shown on the diagram below.  The children will cross to the cars in all rows. 

After sufficient time has passed to cross and load, the cars in the first row will be dismissed one at a time starting at the southwest corner of the lot and continuing one at a time to the northwest corner.  After the first row of cars is gone, the second row of cars is to pull forward and the cross and load of any remaining students is repeated.  If your child is not ready to cross when you are in the front row, you will be asked to pull around and pick up your child from inside Door #1. The teachers will be conscious of dismissal time and will have students in the parking lot by 3:30 p.m. unless there are circumstances beyond their control. There will be no parking along the outer perimeter of the parking lot (please note the diagram on the following page).  For safety, please DO NOT back up and drive around other cars.  All cars MUST wait and be dismissed with their row.  For children’s safety, all children must be seated with their seat belts buckled before cars will be dismissed.

If parents need to get their child immediately (i.e. for a doctor’s appointment, etc.) or need
to enter the building, they must park in the Parish Center parking lot and walk to the designated area and pick up your child personally.  All students, with the exception of walkers and bicycle riders, will be dismissed through Door #2.  Students will no longer be able to walk to or down the Parish Center sidewalk.  All parents who wish to use the Parish Center parking lot must walk to the Designated Student Waiting Area (see diagram below) to pick up their student(s).  Please remember the use of cell phones in a school zone is prohibited while your car is in motion.

Only the following students will be dismissed from these locations:
A.M. Pre-Kindergarten students will be dismissed from Door 3 (Gym doors). Parents are to come to the door to pick their child up.

P.M. Pre-Kindergarten students will be dismissed from Door 3 (Gym doors). Parents are to come to the door to pick their child up.

Bus students will be dismissed from Door 1 and walked to their bus.

Day Care buses (Children’s World etc) will be dismissed from Door 3 and walked to their bus.

All students must wait for rides at the designated places. For reasons of safety, NO STUDENT IS TO WAIT FOR HIS/HER RIDE AT THE CHURCH ENTRANCE OR AT THE PARISH CENTER.
 
Any student not picked up by 3:40 p.m. will be sent to the After School Care Program and charged accordingly. 
 
The Student Safety Patrol will be on duty at arrival and dismissal time. 

All students, as well as adults, are asked to follow the directions of the patrol.

Parents are not to wait for students in the front hallway of the school. At dismissal time parents are asked to wait outside the school doors for their children.  Parents waiting in the office hallway at this time cause congestion as the students leave.  For safety reasons, groups of students and/or parents should not block entrances and exits at any time.
 
If your child is in need of scholastic help after school, you will be notified 24 hours in advance so you can make arrangements for appropriate transportation.  A student must be invited to stay by the teacher and cannot simply “show up” for help.  The classroom teachers will escort the student to the office.  Parents are to be waiting near the office.  No students should be in the school building after 3:40 p.m. unless they are in a supervised activity such as sports, clubs, scouts, choir or the After School Care Program. 

Your cooperation is appreciated in picking up your children on time. Students who are not picked up by 3:40 p.m. will be sent to After School Care and the parents will be charged accordingly.  Students can only re-enter the building for forgotten items with the permission of the classroom teacher.  In no instance will office staff, custodial staff, parents or after school care staff unlock a classroom door for forgotten items. 

Please do not ask for this to be done.  Parents who arrive early for any after school activities pickup must wait in Hurley Hall at the tables marked “For Parents Only”.
