Michael Allen
Michael Allen joined the Junior High team in August of 2016. He earned his undergraduate degree in Sociology and Political Science from Lewis University. After spending two years working for DuPage County, he returned to school, earning a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of St. Francis – receiving endorsements in both Language Arts and Social Studies. Mr. Allen spent twelve years working as a middle school teacher, coach and choir co-director in the Illinois public schools and is excited to be taking the next step in his career as a private school educator. In his time outside the classroom, Mr. Allen enjoys coaching softball, playing the piano and cheering on the best sports teams ever – the Illini and the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs.

Victoria Bergeron
Victoria Bergeron graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, majoring in Elementary Education. She has taught preschool, kindergarten, second, and third grades. With the exception of her first three years when she taught in Wisconsin, she has only taught here at St. Matthew Parish School. Ms. Bergeron is an active member of our Parish community as well. She has been a Faith Formation teacher, a leader of adult and student Alpha, a Vacation Bible School organizer, as well as participating in the Mission Trips with the youth group of the Parish.

Holly Birns
Holly Birns joined the St. Matthew Parish School faculty in August, 2016 as one of our fourth grade teachers. She received her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in Language Arts, Social Science and General Science through Illinois State University. She also received her English as a Second Language endorsement through Benedictine University. Previously, she taught for three years as a preschool paraprofessional in Darien and for four years as a supported education assistant in sixth through eighth grade in Aurora. She states that she is very excited to see and work with her students each and every day!

Margaret Boler
Maggie Boler is entering her nineteenth year here at St. Matthew Parish School. She started as a sixth grade teacher and has been the eighth grade homeroom and Junior High English & Language Arts teacher for the last sixteen years. She has an undergraduate degree from Illinois State University. She began her teaching career as a second grade teacher, but has truly found her passion in the Junior High. She is involved in many committees here at St. Matthew including PBIS, Authentic Learning Community, PLC Leader and manly more activities that keep her calendar full. She has been in Catholic education her whole life and has never wanted to be anywhere else. She feels blessed to be called to this vocation.

Susan D’Amico
Susan D’Amico is our first grade teacher here at St. Matthew Parish School. She has taught Kindergarten through second grade for 16 years, with the 2016-2017 school year marking her 11th year here at St. Matthew. She earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees at National Louis University, majoring in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in Reading. Her post-graduate work includes an English as a New Language (ENL) endorsement from Notre Dame University. She feels it is a privilege to be a part of the St. Matthew Parish School faculty and to be able to play a part in facilitating student learning.

Katie Gorecki
Katie Gorecki is beginning her third year teaching at St. Matthew Parish School this year. She received her Early Childhood and Elementary Education degrees from Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Prior to joining us here at St. Matthew, Miss Gorecki spent three years teaching preschool. Her years of teaching here at St. Matthew Parish School have all been spent teaching either in the fourth or fifth grades. She has spent time teaching at other schools in the Diocese of Joliet and feels truly blessed to work here at St. Matthew Parish School.

Colleen Harkins
Colleen Harkins graduated from Aurora University with an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Language Arts. She has had the privilege of working in different aspects of education. She taught as a special education paraprofessional for four and a half years, which was an experience that was dear to her heart. Her educational career also led her to North Carolina where she taught first grade for a year. She is now beginning her second year at St. Matthew Parish School as one of our Preschool teachers, where she states she has been blessed to work with an amazing staff and wonderful families.

Jina Hoffmann
Jina Hoffmann received her Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University. Then after many years of working in the business world in management and sales, she finally decided to pursue her life-long dream of becoming a teacher. She finished her Masters degree in Middle School Mathematics. Bringing real world experience into the classroom has helped her students understand how important math is. Mrs. Hoffmann believes that every student is unique and learns in different ways.

Stephanie Kaefer
Stephanie Kaefer is new to St. Matthew Parish School this year and feels very grateful to be here as one of our fifth grade teachers. She grew up nearby in Lombard and then spent the past four years in St. Louis, Missouri as a student in the School of Education at Saint Louis University. She studied Elementary and Special Education and was a member of the Micah Program, a learning community focused on academics, service, and faith. She comes from a family full of teachers, including her grandmother and both parents. She enjoys reading, running, and playing guitar as well as spending time with friends, family, and now her students.

Gloria Kari
Gloria Kari graduated from Elmhurst College in 2016 with a degree in Elementary Education and minors in Language Arts/Reading Education. She was inspired to teach after her experience as a junior naturalist at Willowbrook Wildlife Center where she had the chance to spread the message of stewardship for the environment. She loves to write, draw, read, and spend time with her family and dog and also loves to watch the Cubs and Blackhawks. She is looking forward to an exciting year.

Karen Kelly
Karen Kelly is a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. She studied and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. She has fulfilled all of the educational requirements for an endorsement in Junior High Education from Benedictine University. She joined St. Matthew Parish School as the Preschool teacher eighteen years ago. The following year she taught fourth grade. Since then she has found a home in Junior High. She has taught Reading, English/Language Arts, Math, Religion, and Social Studies to the Junior High students. Currently she is teaching Social Studies and loves every minute she spends with the student of St. Matthew Parish School Junior High.

Megan McCoy
Megan McCoy is the Technology Director here at St. Matthew Parish School. She has a degree in Elementary Education as well as a Masters degree in Educational Technology. She has worked in the Diocese of Joliet since 2010 and is an active member of the Diocesan Technology Committee. This past summer she became a Google Certified Educator and is looking forward to sharing her knowledge with students and staff. She loves working with the entire school community to increase technology integration and understanding. She believes Technology is a powerful tool that can be used to increase student and staff engagement, efficiency, and excellence. She feels it truly is a pleasure to be part of such a wonderful school community and she is looking forward to growing the technology program here at St. Matthew Parish School.

Shannon Michalek
Shannon Michalek is beginning her second year teaching Preschool at St. Matthew Parish School. She comes from a small rural town in Ohio and has lived in the area for eight years. She has a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and a Maters degree in Reading & Literacy. She has been teaching for twelve years with most of her experience at the Preschool or Kindergarten level. She states that it has been a wonderful experience getting to know the staff and families here at St. Matthew Parish School.

Devin Rosen
Devin Rosen joined St. Matthew Parish School in 2015 as our physical education and health teacher. He graduated from Northeastern Illinois University in the fall of 2010, with a Bachelors degree in Education with certifications in Health and Physical Education. Mr. Rosen is the head baseball coach at Bartlett High School as well as being a certified personal trainer and a fitness instructor at the Bartlett Park District. Previously before coming to St. Matthew Parish School he taught at Saint Agatha Catholic Academy on the west side of Chicago. His hobbies include playing and watching baseball, working on cars, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Julianne Santo
Julianne Santo is one of our Kindergarten teachers here at St. Matthew Parish School. She is originally from New Jersey and moved into the area after graduating from college. She graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a degree in Elementary Education and endorsements in Reading Teacher and ESL (English as a Second Language). This is her second year teaching Kindergarten at St. Matthew Parish School and she is looking forward to another wonderful year!

Christine Sulda
Christine Sulda is our second grade teacher here at St. Matthew Parish School. She received her Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from St. Xavier University. This year marks her sixteenth year as a teacher and she is now officially experienced in teaching all primary grades -- Kindergarten – third grade. She feels her role at St. Matthew Parish School is unique because she not only teaches here, but her children attend our school as well. She can relate to the student’s parents because she is a parent as well. In addition, she has also been a parishioner at St. Matthew Parish for the last 20 years – was married here and all of her children have been baptized here as well. It is important to her to be an active member in our parish community and has instilled this belief in her children who currently serve our church as altar servers and cantors at mass. This year, she will be taking on the role as one of our drama club facilitators for the Junior High students. She has been in Catholic education her entire career and feels blessed to be a part of the St. Matthew community.

Beth Webster
Beth Webster has been a part of St. Matthew Parish School for three years, teaching Science to our Junior High students. She brings the experience of her own grade school and high school Catholic education with her. She is a graduate of Western Connecticut State University, majoring in Education with a concentration in general Science. She holds a Middle School endorsement from Benedictine University. With the knowledge gained by her prior work experience in chemical research and development, and emergency room medicine, along with experiences teaching all subject matters, she is able to assist her students in gaining a better understanding of the world around them. Her goal is to spark Science curiosity in her students. Mrs. Webster is married with two children in high school. She enjoys running, perfecting her culinary skills and reading.

Kathy Weinstock
Kathy Weinstock loves teaching art at St. Matthew Parish School. She is a graduate of the University of St. Francis with a degree in Elementary Education and endorsements in Art and Language Arts. She has taught in Catholic schools for 8 years and has also led social groups for children at elementary schools and women’s shelters. Mrs. Weinstock stays active as a Girl Scout Leader and volunteer at her church.

Brian Wrightson
Brian Wrightson is excited to be here at St. Matthew Parish School starting his thirteenth year as a music educator. He began his career in 2004 directing band and choir ensembles at his high school alma mater, Driscoll Catholic in Addison, IL. Since then he has taught at various Catholic high schools and elementary schools within southeastern Wisconsin. He received his Bachelors degree in Music Business from Elmhurst College and his Masters degree in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music. In addition to teaching music classes, Mr. Wrightson has acted as the Parish Music Director for multiple churches in Wisconsin, and at St. Matthew he will continue on in this role as co-Music Director and Youth Choir Director. He also acts as a freelance performer, singer-songwriter, and audio recording engineer. He has written, recorded, and published many songs through the years, including both religious and secular works. He enjoys spending time with his high school sweetheart and now wife, Johnelle, and their two flurry children, Mika and Rini. His motto: “Live Jesus in our hearts forever!”
